Welcome from the President of the Section

Dear all
Attached is the program for this year’s conference of the International Wine Law Association (Australasian Section).
This year’s conference will be held at Lindenderry at Red Hill on Mornington Peninsula over 2, 3 and 4 August.
This year’s diverse academic program includes:
·         Updates from the CEOs of Wine Australia and Australian Grape and Wine
·         Insights into the future of wine tax
·         Exploration of regulatory issues that might stifle the promotion of non-traditional wine products (such as wine based beverages and flavoured wine products)
·         An overview of issues facing the wine industry in China as a result of copycat and counterfeit activity
·         Scientific insights into the analytical methods available to measure authenticity and quality (and what is and is not likely to hold up in court)
·         Insights into recent regulatory matters and market access challenges that are appearing on the horizon
·         A judges session exploring the parallels between life in wine, and life in law.
As always, the academic program is complemented by local wine tastings and dining experiences with visits planned to some of Mornington Peninsula’s most iconic cellar doors and restaurants.
The conference is open to anyone with an interest in the wine sector and is not limited to those in the legal profession. To register, please complete and return the attached form to
Please feel free to share the program with your colleagues.
A reminder also that registrations for this year’s SA AIDV Dinner at Jolley’s Boathouse on 27 June are open. This year we are pleased to welcome AFL identity Steven Trigg as the speaker for the evening. You can register for the dinner here.
