WIPO is the global forum for intellectual property (IP) services, policy, information and cooperation. We are a self-funding agency of the United Nations, with 193 member states.

Its mission is to lead the development of a balanced and effective international IP system that enables innovation and creativity for the benefit of all. Its mandate, governing bodies and procedures are set out in the WIPO Convention, which established WIPO in 1967.

AIDV participates in the activities of the WIPO as a Specialized Observer.

Lisbon System

The Lisbon System for the International Registration of Geographical Indications offers a means of obtaining protection for a geographical indication in the 30 contracting parties to the Lisbon Agreement through a single registration and one set of fees.

Registrations are published in the official Bulletin and can be searched through the Lisbon Express Database.

International Symposium

The International Symposium on Geographical Indications is organized every two years by WIPO in cooperation with an interested member state. It brings together international experts, representing academia, member states’ administrations, geographical indication (GI) producers and non-governmental organizations.
